Final 'Downtown at Sundown' event will feature music, walking tour

The following is a news release from the City of DeRidder:

DERIDDER -- The last event of the "Downtown at Sundown" concert series will be held Thursday, April 10, from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Amerisafe Pavilion in downtown DeRidder.
Free nachos will be provided by the city, and drinks will be sold for $1.
Free games and activities for children will also be available.
The Young Band Nation, out of Lake Charles, will perform.
Young Band Nation (YBN) is a group of collaborating organizations whose main objective is to promote appreciation of music, work ethic, communication and community building through the education of youth.
The name Young Band Nation is two-fold. It is the overall community comprised of our students, faculty, parents, location owners and all supporters of our mission to provide top-notch education and performance opportunities to young people who want to learn music most current to today's pop culture. And it is also the nickname of what has become their flagship program in Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, the Young Band Development Program.
Students have the opportunity to explore many of the components that make up the professional music industry including: professional audio equipment, recording hardware and software, marketing, promoting, booking, and a myriad of other concepts that will help prepare them to enter music colleges like Belmont and Berklee, and to be successful in today's music industry.
Thursday’s Downtown at Sundown will also kick off the new downtown walking tour, designed by Roy Ades.
Ades is a local history enthusiast and former director of the Beauregard Tourist Commission.
Ades has been working on the walking tour for many months and will be on hand on Thursday to help promote the tour and answer any questions.
The tour features 22 points of interest including Hooks Uptown Theater, Long Bell City Park, the First USO and the Hanging Jail to name  a few.
