Merryville Heritage Festival set March 27-29

MERRYVILLE -- The Merryville Heritage Festival will be March 27-29 in Merryville.
The festival offers entertainment and food, on the grounds of the Merryville Historical Society Museum.
The event celebrates the unique history of "No Man's Land" with skits, entertainment, demonstrations and attractions reminiscent of the 1800s and early 1900s. The event draws around 3,500 visitors each year.

Impromptu Players begin 32nd season with 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat'

DERIDDER -- The Impromptu Players will begin their 32nd  season with the musical, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat."
This fun and witty take on the familiar story of Joseph and his 11 brothers was written by Broadway legends Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber and has been a favorite since it debuted 30 years ago. More HERE.

Man, 20, booked on felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile

VERNON PARISH -- A 20-year-old man was booked in the Vernon Parish Jail on Sunday on one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Tristan Brown is accused of an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl.
Bond is pending in the case.

Leesville HS teacher, coach booked on drug-related charges

LEESVILLE -- A Leesville High School teacher was arrested Wednesday and booked on drug-related charges.
Matthew S. Morrison, 25, of Leesville, was booked on violation of uniform CDS law, drug-free zone and possession of marijuana, according to the Leesville Police Department. More HERE.

Session starts March 10 in Baton Rouge, area lawmakers file bills

The state legislative session in Baton Rouge convenes at noon on Monday, March 10.
By law, final adjournment must be no later than 6 p.m. Monday, June 2.
