Slagle teen booked on aggravated rape, sexual battery

VERNON PARISH -- An 18-year-old Slagle teen is accused in the rape of a 12-year-old.

According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, Michael Anthony Maddox was arrested following an investigation which began Friday, following the report of a 12-year-old female runaway.

Maddox remains in the parish jail on $200,000 bond on a charge of aggravated rape and one count of oral sexual battery. He was also booked on two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Sheriff Sam Craft reports that the Rosepine Police Department and deputies located the missing girl and Maddox at a Rosepine home.

Two others, 17-year-old Leah Nicole Yancey, and 18-year-old Skylar Wayne Van Patten, both of Rosepine, were with Maddox and the girl.

Yancey was booked on one count of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $2,000 bond. Van Patten was booked on one count of possession of marijuana, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. He remains in the parish jail on $3,000 bond.

Craft said Maddox is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with the juvenile on two occasions.

Craft said the juvenile was also arrested by the Rosepine Police Department and booked on one count of ungovernable and one count of runway. She was remanded to the custody of her parents.
