Trial date set for former school bookkeeper accused of theft

DERIDDER -- A trial date has been set in the case of a woman accused of stealing funds from East Beauregard High School.
According to the Beauregard Parish District Attorney's Office, Sharon Bushnell, the school's former bookkeeper, faces one count of felony theft for allegedly stealing over $147,000 in school funds over a period of several years.
The trial will be heard in front of 36th Judicial District Judge Martha O'Neal on May 19 starting at 9 a.m.
If convicted, Bushnell could face up to 10 years in prison, and up to a $3,000 fine.
