Lawmakers prefile bills for upcoming legislative session

BATON ROUGE -- The 2014 session of the Louisiana Legislature will convene Monday, March 10. Final adjournment, by law, must be no later than 6 p.m. June 2. Already, state lawmakers are prefiling bills. Here are some measures that will be proposed by lawmakers from the region:

HB73 HOWARD Pending House Appropriations
APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the matter of "Robert L. Knippers and Lessie T. Knippers v. State of Louisiana DOTD, et al"

HB87 DANAHAY Pending House Retirement
RETIREMENT/MUNICIPAL EMP: Provides for shared employment between the Vinton Public Power Authority and another employer in the Municipal Employees' Retirement System and provides guidelines and restrictions relative to creditable service for such employment

KLECKLEY Pending House Appropriations
APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the matter of "Maurianne Oliver v. Union Pacific Railroad Company, State of Louisiana DOTD, Christina Winn, and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company"

SB10 MORRISH Pending Senate Judiciary A
PROPERTY INSURANCE: Prohibits the recovery of penalties in class action suits against La. Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. (8/1/14)

LONG Pending Senate Retirement
TEACHERS RETIREMENT: Provides for a supplemental benefit increase.
