Winter brings special beauty to Hodges Gardens State Park

BY ELONA WESTON

MANY -- Winter brings a special kind of beauty to Hodges Gardens State Park in Many.

The cooler temperatures are favored by birds. Camellias also bud and show their faces.

Hodges Gardens became a state park in 2007.

The late A.J. Hodges Sr. transformed a barren, 700-acre stone quarry into a tourist attraction. Hodges, an oil and gas businessman, designed the park and opened it to the public in 1956.

We visited the park last weekend. You can find a photo gallery of our visit HERE.
