SWLA Forestry Association plans annual meeting, forum

DERIDDER -- The SWLA Forestry Association will hold its annual meeting and forum on Saturday, March 8 from 8 a.m. to noon at the exhibition hall at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds in DeRidder.
The LSU AgCenter and SWLA Forestry Association will present a program to help forest landowners manage their forests more profitably.
Dr.  Shaun Tanger, forest economist, will discuss the process of selling timber. Randy Rentz, with the Louisiana Department of Forestry, will discuss how landowners can reforest their lands. Dr. Tom Dean, LSU forestry professor, will describe how forest soils are affected by bioenergy and short-rotation timber harvesting.   Dr. Rich Vlosky and Tanger will present a program about the forest products of Louisiana. Buck Vandersteen, executive director of the Louisiana Forestry Association, will speak about the state of Louisiana Forestry.
The cost is $25 per household comprised of a husband, wife and dependent children. The cost also includes annual membership due and entitles member to attend other workshops at no charge.
