Fort Polk man booked in string of area vehicle burglaries

VERNON PARISH -- A Fort Polk man is accused in a string of vehicle break-ins in the Vernon Parish area.
According to Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft, the arrest of 25-year-old Zackery W. Hudson came after a lengthy investigation.
Hudson is accused of stealing various electronic items from the vehicles, including GPS navigation systems, computers, iPads, iPods and cell phones. He is also accused of taking credit cards and firearms.
"The majority of the stolen items were either pawned or sold, and VPSO detectives are currently working to recover these items," Craft said.
Hudson was arrested on Sunday. He was booked on simple burglary, criminal trespass, theft of a firearm and illegal possession of stolen firearms.
He was also booked Monday on additional warrants, including simple assault and littering.
Bond is set at $21,158. Craft said bond amounts for the additional charges are pending.
