Woman dies in Allen Parish crash

ALLEN PARISH -- An Oberlin woman has died in an Allen Parish crash.

According to Louisiana State Police, Troop D, the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Friday on La. 26, east of Oberlin.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Nissan, driven by 40-year-old Kimberly Lovejoy, was traveling west on La. 26, east of Oberlin, at a high rate of speed when Lovejoy failed to negotiate a curve to the right.

Troopers say the vehicle traveled off the highway and struck a ditch embankment causing the vehicle to flip repeatedly before coming to rest.

Lovejoy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen Parish Coroner’s Office. There were no passengers in the vehicle.

Troopers say excessive speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was obtained from Lovejoy and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
