Fort Polk Progress seeks community's help with survey

LEESVILLE -- Fort Polk Progress has released a survey to gather information from parents and others in Vernon Parish about their education concerns.

The survey, part of a larger Education Initiative to help keep Fort Polk thriving, with education for military students a top priority, can be accessed at

Fort Polk Progress encourages parents, educators and others interested in education to not only take the survey but to share it with friends, relatives and colleagues.

The information gathered through the survey will be used to create informative break-out sessions at the March 27 Fort Polk Progress Education Symposium.

The event will cover topics like education rankings, Common Core standards, tools and technology, and more. It will take place from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. at Fort Polk's Bayou Theater.

An afternoon "Parent University" session will be held at the Warrior Community Activity Center (WCAC) and focus on helping parents understand Common Core. An evening session will be held at the WCAC from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to provide a recap of the Symposium to working parents.
