DeRidder man booked in chase

DERIDDER -- DeRidder Police say a man remains in the Beauregard Parish Jail after leading officers on a chase on Thursday.
According to a news release from the department, at 5:41 p.m. Thursday, officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and U.S. 171.
Authorities said 23-year-old K'darrel Watson, of DeRidder, fled the stop.
"Officers pursued the driver through the Twin Lakes Subdivision where Watson then exited the vehicle on foot, leaving the vehicle to continue unattended. The vehicle struck two parked cars before coming to a stop," the release states.
Officers later apprehended Watson.
There were no injuries reported.
Authorities say marijuana and synthetic cannabinoids were found in the vehicle.
Watson was booked on possession of marijuana, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, hit and run, reckless operation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bond in the case is pending.
