Vernon Parish substitute teacher accused of inappropriate relationship with student

VERNON PARISH -- A Vernon Parish substitute teacher has been booked on one count of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student, according to Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft.

Craft, in a Tuesday news release, said 39-year-old Cindy Martinez, of Simpson, was arrested Friday following an investigation into a complaint filed with the Sheriff's Office.

Craft said Martinez, a substitute at an area high school, is accused of having inappropriate sexual relations with a 17-year-old student.

Martinez was jailed on $5,000 bond.

Craft said she posted bond and was released.
