DeRidder woman dies in single-vehicle accident

DERIDDER -- A 59-year-old DeRidder woman died Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash in DeRidder.
According to the DeRidder Police Department, the wreck happened on Blankenship Drive and Dees Street.
The woman was heading east on Blankenship when she left the roadway, police say, and overcorrected, losing control of the vehicle.
The vehicle then crossed over Blankenship and struck a tree.
The woman was taken to Beauregard Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Authorities say the woman was not restrained.
The identity of the driver has not been released pending notification of family.
