Leesville mulls pool management contract

LEESVILLE -- The City of Leesville is considering contracting with a Georgia company to manage its splash pool near the youth baseball/softball complex at the Vernon Parish fairgrounds as well as the leisure pool at the old state school.

The Leesville City Council on Monday introduced an ordinance that, if finalized, would contract with American Pool Service of Georgia LLC for maintenance, management and staffing for the two pools.

A public hearing and vote is set March 24.

Under the proposal, the company would be paid $52,200 from the date of the ordinance's adoption to May 1, 2015.

The City of Leesville, in 2012, entered in an agreement with the state to acquire the old school. Some city offices will move there once the building is revamped, officials have said. The building has a gymnasium and swimming pool.

The proposal also outlines that any changes in the fee schedule would have to be signed off on by the council.
