Leesville Council approves emergency fund application, pool contract

LEESVILLE -- The Leesville City Council on Monday approved the application of emergency funds to repair a broken sewer main that was found to be dumping into a creek south of La. 467.
A temporary pump station has been installed to help stop the discharge into the creek, but officials say they need the funds for a permanent fix.
Under the emergency application, the bidding period will be shortened so the work can start more quickly, officials say.
Also on Monday, the council approved a contract with a Georgia company to manage its splash pool near the youth baseball/softball complex at the Vernon Parish fairgrounds as well as the leisure pool at the old state school.
The city will contract with American Pool Service for maintenance, management and staffing for the two pools.
We'll have more from Monday's meeting later Tuesday.
