DeRidder man accused in girlfriend's death

FROM STAFF REPORTS
BEAUREGARD PARISH -- A DeRidder man is accused in his girlfriend's death, according to authorities.

Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Joe Toler said 40-year-old Jeremy A. Bunch Sr. was booked on second-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Mandy Kirl.

Toler said the Sheriff's Office received information late Saturday evening of a man reporting to authorities in Shreveport that "something bad had happened at a residence in DeRidder." Deputies went to the home, on U.S. 190 West, and found Kirl deceased.

Kirl's body was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office for examination. Authorities say the preliminary autopsy report indicates she was strangled.

Bunch was brought to Beauregard Parish late Sunday. He was booked into the parish jail.

No bond was posted.
