Former teacher pleads not guilty in sex case

BEAUREGARD PARISH -- A former Singer High School teacher, accused of having a sexual relationship with a juvenile, pleaded not guilty last week to nine counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 36th Judicial District Court.

Pamela R. Jackson Taylor, 28, was arrested in December.

Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office authorities said the arrest came after allegations of an inappropriate relationship.

Taylor was originally booked on 18 counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Taylor's arraignment was Tuesday. Her trial is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 18 before Judge C. Kerry Anderson.
