Oakdale woman booked in worthless checks case

VERNON PARISH -- A 52-year-old Oakdale woman has been booked in a worthless checks case.
According to Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft, Karen Lafleur was arrested Friday following an investigation into reports that Lafleur issued approximately 21 checks which were returned to area businesses as insufficient.
Craft said Lafleur was also a person of interest in an investigation into the issuing of a check to a local business on a closed bank account.
Lafleur was transported to Vernon Parish from the Sabine Parish Detention Center where she is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges.
Lafleur was booked on 21 counts of issuing worthless checks and one count of theft. Total bond was set at $11,000.
Lafleur was transported back to the Sabine Parish Detention Center with a detainer for the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office.
