Child Abuse Prevention Month observed this month

LEESVILLE -- Leesville Mayor Robert Rose signed a proclamation on Monday declaring April as "Child Abuse Prevention Month" in the city.

Members of the Court Appointed Special Advocates organization and city officials were present.

“We take everyday citizens with no particular skills in child abuse, law enforcement, psychology or sociology and we train them and they are the voice of children in court,” said Beth Wilcox, CASA Community Engagement Coordinator. “They stand up for children that have been abused or neglected and removed from their homes.”
