35th annual 'May-Day R.C. Helicopter Fun-Fly' planned in Carlyss

CARLYSS -- The Lake Area Radio Kontrol Society (LARKS) is  hosting its 35th annual May Day Helicopter Fly, Friday through Saturday, May 2-3, at Hinch  Model Air Park in Carlyss, two miles west of Southland Aviation.

Flying starts each  day at dawn and concludes at 9 p.m.

Families are invited to see the best flyers in the world fly their radio controlled model helicopters for two days free of charge. There will also be a scale display, oldtimer helicopters and helicopter drag racing.

Face painting, free giveaways and photo opportunities with Gumbeaux Gator will take place Saturday, May 3 at 11 a.m. for the children.

LARKS is dedicated to the promotion of the hobby and fly under the guidelines of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and encourages people who appreciate model airplanes and helicopters to join their club.

Spectators need to bring their own chair, and refreshments will be on site. Parking is free. For patrons who are disabled, call Bo Hinch at (337) 515-1158 upon arrival to the site, and someone will provide transportation to the large shaded canopy area.
