Search for missing man comes up empty

VERNON PARISH -- A coordinated search for a missing man has come up empty.

James N. Stephens, 31, has been missing since March 29 when he was last seen on Bailey Road in Rosepine.

According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, about 85 people showed up for an intensive search on Saturday, including first responders, officers, volunteers and members of Texas Equusearch, an organization that helps search for missing persons.

The search teams scoured the area all day Saturday and part of the day Sunday, however, no trace of Stephens was found.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Stephens is asked to call the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-238-1311 or the Vernon Parish Crime Stoppers at 337-239-2233.

Stephens is a white male with red/auburn hair and blue eyes. He is around 6-feet, three inches tall and weighs about 215 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, an orange shirt and a ball cap.
