Texas teen booked in Leesville on theft, burglary charges

LEESVILLE -- An Orange, Texas teen was arrested Monday, booked on theft of a firearm and burglary charges following an investigation by the Leesville Police Department.

Leesville authorities say 18-year-old Ricky J. Ashworth II was arrested on active warrants, stemming from two separate incidents investigated in late 2013.

Authorities say one incident was the report of a stolen vehicle, an amount of U.S. currency and a firearm.

The second report was a stolen firearm from a vehicle.

"These incidents were in separate locations on separate dates in Leesville," a release states.

Authorities say during  the course of the investigations, the vehicle had been located in Sulphur, and with the assistance of Sulphur Police and Calcasieu Sheriff’s Parish Office, information was gathered that led to warrants being issued in the cases.

"Ashworth admitted to his involvement in both incidents," the release continues.

Ashworth was booked into the Leesville City Jail on two counts of theft of a firearm, simple burglary, theft over $500, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Bond was set at $12,000.
