LDWF Commission adds acreage to Peason Ridge WMA

The following is a news release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries:

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission last week adopted a resolution that adds acreage to Peason Ridge Wildlife Management Area (WMA).

Peason Ridge WMA’s new 17,994 acres have been added through a cooperative management agreement with the U.S. Army. That addition increases Peason Ridge to 51,004 total acres, owned by the U.S. Army.

The WMA is located 18 miles north of Leesville with acreage in Sabine, Natchitoches and Vernon parishes.

The Commission’s resolution procedure is part of the formal regulatory process that must be followed in the establishment of WMAs. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries manages over 1.5 million acres of public land for outdoor recreation use.
