Murphy Oil zoning request on Leesville panel's Thursday agenda

LEESVILLE -- The Leesville Zoning Commission will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday to consider a zoning issue related to the new fuel station that will be located at Wal-Mart in Leesville.

City officials, earlier this year, announced that a Murphy Oil Corporation fuel station was coming to the city.

Leesville City Administrator Courtney Christian said the land where the station is being developed is on a parcel that is zoned A-6 Single Family. She said in order to operate the business, the lot must be rezoned for the intended use.

Earlier this year, city officials said engineering for the site had been completed, and the city had passed the proposal through its administrative review.

Murphy Oil operates stations across the country, including one in DeRidder.
