Evans man accused of stealing from oil well sites

FROM STAFF REPORTS
VERNON PARISH -- An Evans man is accused of stealing from oil well sites in Vernon Parish.

According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, 39-year-old James Michael Jeane was initially arrested June 18 in relation to a theft from a site in the Evans area. He was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail on one count of theft over $1,500.

Authorities say further investigation led to Jeane's arrest on June 27. He was booked on one count of theft, one count of theft of oil/gas equipment, three counts of criminal mischief and three counts of criminal trespassing.

However, authorities this week said the ongoing investigation resulted in Jeane's third arrest.

He was arrested July 11 and booked on one count of theft over $500, one count of criminal mischief and one count of trespassing.

Bond was set at $44,800. He remains in the Vernon Parish Jail.

Authorities say the investigation continues and more arrests are possible.
