LDVA invites veterans to share VA experiences at town hall meeting; local event set July 30 in Leesville

LEESVILLE -- Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA) has announced its July schedule of town hall meetings with LDVA Secretary David LaCerte to be held across the state.

The purpose of these meetings is to allow Louisiana veterans to share experiences they have had with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system including VA clinics, hospitals and mental health services.

A town hall is set in Leesville.

It will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 at VFW Post 3106 in Leesville, at 205 East Harriet Street.

"As Secretary of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, I am extremely frustrated by the lack of transparency from federal VA regarding their current healthcare crisis," said Secretary LaCerte in a news release. "VA officials need to engage veterans in a two-way conversation and seek real solutions to these problems. On the state level, I will continue to meet personally with Louisiana veterans so that I can learn about the issues they are facing and will continue to push my federal counterparts to start giving Veterans the care they deserve."

LDVA will compile the information veterans share at the town hall meetings and will share findings with local, state and federal elected officials as well as key staff at VA in hopes of influencing positive change and increased transparency.
