Leesville residents accused in attempted home break-in, vehicle burglaries

VERNON PARISH -- Three Leesville area residents are accused of trying to break into a home.

According to a news release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, on Saturday, deputies responded to a Stanley Road home in reference to a complaint that someone was trying to break in.

Authorities say the resident said he was awakened by his security alarm. He then reportedly spotted two men on his front porch, attempting to force entry into the home. The man said he yelled and the men ran away.

Deputies responded and observed a vehicle traveling near the home. A traffic stop was then conducted.

Inside were 20-year-old Juwan Javoni Jones, 20-year-old Shaka Kamau and Triston Lee Demorales, age unavailable.

Authorities said the homeowner was able to identify Jones and Kamau as the men being on his porch.

The suspects were transported to the Sheriff's Office and were interviewed.

During the interviews, authorities said the suspects also confessed to being involved in several car burglaries in the Leesville area. Deputies recovered GPS devices, an IPod, three watches and two cell phones that the suspects had allegedly taken out of the vehicles.

All three were booked on five counts of simple burglary, one count of criminal trespass and one count of criminal mischief.

Bond is pending, and they remain in the Vernon Parish Jail.
